UK/2nd September 2024:
British menswear brand, House of Cavani (HoC) has partnered with Cure Leukaemia and raised £5,000 for the charity, which will help fund research nursesin support of 250,000 people diagnosed with blood cancer in the UK.
During Blood Cancer Awareness Month, HoC donated £1 of every sale towards the fundraising campaign, to reach its £5,000 target.
Staff at HoC also took part in the Birmingham leg of Run the Nations, covering seven miles of the national fundraising campaign led by Cure Leukaemia. The event, which covered a total of 224 miles in UK cities, aims to raise £100,000 to fund specialist nurses, enabling clinical trials and access to life-saving therapies for blood cancer patients.
Employees took on the running challenge in style, sporting HoC’s signature Odense blazer and Baresi trousers, as well as a jockey-inspired outfit, similar to the attire worn by jockeysthat have ridden the brand’s professional horse, Tailorman, in prominent horse races across the UK.
Both outfits are designed with lightweight, breathable and water-resistant materials, ensuring the perfect blend of style and comfort during the run.
Sukhi Mondair, CEO of House of Cavani, said: “We are thrilled to support Cure Leukaemia and raise much needed funds to support blood cancer patients. Participating in this initiative has not only allowed us to raise awareness of such an important cause, but also directly contribute to vital research and patient care.
“We are incredibly proud to have made a difference through our customers’ transactions, knowing that together we’re making a tangible impact in the fight against leukaemia.”
One in every 16 men and one in every 22 women are likely to develop blood cancer at some point in their lives. Four children every day are diagnosed with a form of blood cancer, making it the most common type of childhood cancer in the UK.
James McLaughlin, CEO of Cure Leukaemia, who spearheaded the 224-mile Run the Nations challenge, said: “I’m extremely grateful to everyone at House of Cavani and their customers for such fantastic support of my Run The Nations 224-mile challenge as part of Blood Cancer Awareness Month in September.
“As a result of their generous support via donations sold off from each order throughout September, over £5,000 was raised for Cure Leukaemia, which will go towards the funding of our UK wide Trials Acceleration Programme.
“In addition to the vital funds raised, House of Cavani’s campaign via their social media channels and their participation in one of the legs of the Run The Nations challenge also raised awareness of the fact that every 14 mins a person in the UK is diagnosed with blood cancer.”
